Five breaths to begin your morning

A simple breathing practice to ground yourself before the day unfolds - no mat required.

There is a quiet power in the first few breaths of the day. Before the inbox, before the to-do list, before the world asks anything of you — there is just you and your breath.

Why the morning matters

How we begin tends to set the tone for everything that follows. A frantic start ripples outward into a frantic day. A grounded one does the opposite.

The practice

  1. Sit comfortably, spine tall, shoulders soft.
  2. Inhale slowly through the nose for a count of four.
  3. Pause gently at the top for a count of two.
  4. Exhale for a count of six, letting the body soften.
  5. Repeat for five rounds.
Breathe deep, accept, and embrace.

That's it. Five breaths. Notice how the body settles, how the mind quiets just enough to meet the day with intention rather than reaction.

Carry this with you — onto the mat, into a meeting, through a difficult moment. The breath is always there, waiting to bring you home.
