The Art of Yoga & Meditation

Connecting Mind & Body ~ All articles

Yoga is far more than physical shapes ~

It is a moving meditation that links your breath to your movement, helping you find stillness both on and off the mat. Cultivating a regular practice allows you to build a deeper connection with your body while quieting a busy mind.

The Seat of Awareness ~ Simple Yoga Meditation every yoga practice begins and ends with awareness. You do not need to master advanced postures to experience the meditative benefits of yoga.

• Sukhasana Breathing (Easy Pose):

Sit cross-legged on a cushion to lift your hips. Rest your hands on your knees, close your eyes and lengthen your spine. Focus on deep belly breathing, inhaling for four counts and exhaling for four counts.

• Savasana Mindfulness (Corpse Pose):

Lie flat on your back with your feet wide and palms facing up. Allow your entire body to melt into the floor. Observe the natural weight of your body, letting go of any remaining physical control.

• Asanas for Inner Peace ~

Gentle Mindful Movement these foundational yoga poses serve as simple physical exercises to open up tight joints, release stagnant energy and prepare your body for meditation.

• Balasana (Child’s Pose):

Kneel on the floor, touch your big toes together, and sit back on your heels. Separate your knees hip-width apart and lay your torso down between your thighs, stretching your arms forward. This gently opens the lower back and calms the nervous system.

• Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog):

From your hands and knees, tuck your toes and lift your hips toward the ceiling. Press your hands firmly into the mat and extend through your spine to stretch your hamstrings and calves.

• Marjaryasana-Bitilasana (Cat-Cow):

Flow between arching and rounding your spine on your hands and knees. Inhale to lift your chest (Cow) and exhale to round your back toward the sky (Cat) to awaken the entire spine.

Stepping Onto Your Mat Daily ~ A transformational yoga practice relies on showing up consistently rather than perfectly. Even a short 10-minute daily ritual of three gentle poses and a brief seated meditation can shift your energy.

Dedicate a quiet corner of your home to your mat, light a candle and let your breath guide you back to your center.
